The FinderMonkey Weekly - Week 2 FinderMonkey

Welcome to the FinderMonkey Weekly. Our weekly deep dive into the world of people tracing.

This week our video comes from our Head Researcher David Oates. David is an expert researcher and a fantastic intermediary.

The video focuses on a new TV series that is now showing on BBC IPlayer. The series focuses on missing siblings. Siblings looking for each other is a very popular service for us. We find that where adoption is involved there can be many cases where siblings have been separated because of the circumstances around the adoption but ofcouse this can also happen where adoption is not involved.

Here at FinderMonkey we have specific searches that you can choose if you are looking for a sibling you have lost touch with or never met. There are many ways to find siblings and then once we have we can make initial contact with them via our intermediary team. This always done with your involvement so you are supported and involved every step of the way.

Often siblings are happy for contact because the separation is not caused by the siblings but by the circumstances. This means we have some really happy outcomes with reuniting siblings. We can’t say for sure how contact will go but we can support you and work with our proven process to get the best possible outcomes.

Also, this week we have been working on a new process within our DNA searches that is proving to be very fruitful. This has meant we have successfully found another 4 fathers via our DNA service. DNA is an important part of our work now when we are looking for family members. Most people use Ancestry to upload their DNA to but we add your DNA to another 5 places too. Many people upload their DNA to Ancestry but then think, now what! We are here to help if you need any support to make sense of your DNA and how you can use it to find people, other than just asking matches what they know.

We’ve also had a really fantastic new review this week. It really shows the power of our DNA searches can do.

Sandie Alcock just left a new 5-star customer review  – ★★★★★

“I contacted Finder Monkey because I had drawn a blank trying to find my grandfather who was a WWII US servicemen. Due to the time that had passed I knew he would not be living but I still wanted to know who he was. Many years ago my grandmother had not only inadvertently given me an incorrect name but location of where he lived in America also. So all my searches had been futile. However FinderMonkey were able to use my mother’s DNA profile on ancestry to trace him. On this journey they have put us in contact with his great nephew who, who was delighted to make contact as he had been building his own family tree.”

“He is now speaking to HIS father who has memories of my grandfather and photographs. Both myself and my mum and looking forward to the next instalment and reuniting with long lost family. Finder Monkey have been supportive and sensitive and very timely in making this all happen. I am extremely grateful to them for unlocking the past and providing my mum with dad after 78 years of waiting.”

Finally, we would always recommend watching programmes that are based on our Industry and the new program on BBC iPlayer is a fascinating look at missing siblings so we hope you find the time to watch that, click HERE to watch the full episode.

If you’re feeling ready to at least talk about your search then we would recommend that you get in touch and have a chat with us. We’d be delighted to hear from you and see if our services are right for you.
