The FinderMonkey Weekly - Week 10 FinderMonkey

Welcome to the FinderMonkey Weekly.

A new week so a new video from us to you.

This week Head Researcher David Oates is interviewing our Managing Director Ryan Shaw.

Ryan is managing director of both Joanna North Associates and FinderMonkey.

In this video he talks about his ethos around people tracing and how the services we offer have developed over time. It’s well worth a watch as he discusses with Dave just how much time and effort has gone into the service you can use today.

The video discusses safeguarding and how pivotal moments in the history of the company have impacted the business as it is today. They also discuss how Ryan’s main role is now to develop the businesses and make sure they are fit for purpose for as many people as possible.

We hope you enjoy this video with our MD, and it reassures you on how we work and why you should choose us.

Reassurance, that is this week’s word.

How do we as the company reassure you to a point where you can trust us to help you?

You may need any of the following reassurance

  1. Is searching for and contacting them the right thing to do?
  2. Is now the right time to do it?
  3. What might the outcomes be?
  4. Will I be rejected?

These are big questions to think about. They are so big that often people who are considering using our service decide not to.

They go back to their safe zone but actually if you are wondering about someone, whether that’s an old friend or a lost relative, wanting answers is important too.

That’s where some reassurance might help you.

So here goes,

Is it the right thing to do, is now the right time?

Short answer is yes. But why? Well, you need answers, there is never going to be a perfect time to do this so why not now. Let’s rip of the plaster and get on with it. We will support you and help you think about all these questions. So, if you’re reading this well done, you’ve found the very best people in the country to do this important work for you, this work to get you answers.

What might the outcomes be?

There are many possible outcomes that you are right to consider, the only problem is. At this stage you don’t know which one will apply to you. All we can tell you is Sue, Alison, Dave, Sophie, and Joanna will all be around you to support you AND your person throughout the whole intermediary process.

We can also give you advice if you don’t get the outcome you wanted. We have lots of leaflets and support to offer you.

The main thing we can do is whatever the outcome help you to gain closure on this. We can even signpost you to books, courses and organisations that can help you.

So, we would recommend that you get in touch when you feel ready and at the very least, have a conversation with us.

You can call us on 0113 2825900 or book a call at a time that works best for you below.

The FinderMonkey Weekly - Week 10 FinderMonkey

Welcome to the FinderMonkey Weekly. Our weekly deep dive into the world of people tracing.

This week our video comes from our Head Researcher David Oates. David is an expert researcher and a fantastic intermediary.

The video focuses on a new TV series that is now showing on BBC IPlayer. The series focuses on missing siblings. Siblings looking for each other is a very popular service for us. We find that where adoption is involved there can be many cases where siblings have been separated because of the circumstances around the adoption but ofcouse this can also happen where adoption is not involved.

Here at FinderMonkey we have specific searches that you can choose if you are looking for a sibling you have lost touch with or never met. There are many ways to find siblings and then once we have we can make initial contact with them via our intermediary team. This always done with your involvement so you are supported and involved every step of the way.

Often siblings are happy for contact because the separation is not caused by the siblings but by the circumstances. This means we have some really happy outcomes with reuniting siblings. We can’t say for sure how contact will go but we can support you and work with our proven process to get the best possible outcomes.

Also, this week we have been working on a new process within our DNA searches that is proving to be very fruitful. This has meant we have successfully found another 4 fathers via our DNA service. DNA is an important part of our work now when we are looking for family members. Most people use Ancestry to upload their DNA to but we add your DNA to another 5 places too. Many people upload their DNA to Ancestry but then think, now what! We are here to help if you need any support to make sense of your DNA and how you can use it to find people, other than just asking matches what they know.

We’ve also had a really fantastic new review this week. It really shows the power of our DNA searches can do.

Sandie Alcock just left a new 5-star customer review

I contacted Finder Monkey because I had drawn a blank trying to find my grandfather who was a WWII US servicemen. Due to the time that had passed I knew he would not be living but I still wanted to know who he was. Many years ago my grandmother had not only inadvertently given me an incorrect name but location of where he lived in America also. So all my searches had been futile. However FinderMonkey were able to use my mother’s DNA profile on ancestry to trace him. On this journey they have put us in contact with his great nephew who, who was delighted to make contact as he had been building his own family tree.

He is now speaking to HIS father who has memories of my grandfather and photographs. Both myself and my mum and looking forward to the next instalment and reuniting with long lost family. Finder Monkey have been supportive and sensitive and very timely in making this all happen. I am extremely grateful to them for unlocking the past and providing my mum with dad after 78 years of waiting.

Finally, we would always recommend watching programmes that are based on our Industry and the new program on BBC iPlayer is a fascinating look at missing siblings so we hope you find the time to watch that.

If you’re feeling ready to at least talk about your search then we would recommend that you get in touch and have a chat with us. We’d be delighted to hear from you and see if our services are right for you.
